Juanita Rae Burns passed from this life on July 11, 2020, at the age of 97 years, 11 months, 16 days in Cerritos, CA.  Juanita was born July 25, 1922, in Sayre, OK to her parents Riley and Lena Grace Grisham.
 

Juanita grew up Sayre, OK, until 1942 when marrying James Burns November 7, 1942, in Odennel, TX.  From 1942 until 1953 Juanita and her family resided in Texas.  35 years were spent residing in California from 1950 ~ 1985.  Western Oklahoma was calling the families name when they moved back to Sayre, OK in 1983 until 2018.  Juanita enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.  She also enjoyed sewing and making dolls.  Her one-of-a-kind faces and clothes were hand crafted.  Juanita taught crafting classes while living in California.  She made many longtime friendships that way.  Juanita never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with a wave and a hello, expecting her family to do the same.  Several door to door sales-men had wonderful dinners spent with her and the family.  She made everyone feel special and important even if nothing was purchased. Many hours were spent listening to swing and big band music.  Juanita loved life.
 

Even though Juanita is no longer with us, her memory will be kept alive through the family and friends she leaves behind which include:  her 3 sons:  Ardis Ray Burns of Hemet, CA, Darryl Lynn Burns of Sayre, OK, Michael Dee Burns of LA, CA; 1 daughter:  Diana Gayle Gouvion of Hemet, CA, 1 sister:  Wilna Faye Plummer of Sayre, OK; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren as well as a host of longtime friends.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 son:  Kenneth Dwight Burns; 3 brothers:  J.R. Grisham, Joe Bob Grisham, Bill Jim Grisham.
