Wanda Joy (Phillips) Price, age 91, of Mangum, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 12, 2012, at Quartz Mountain Medical Center, in Mangum.

Mrs. Price was born in Greer County, south of Mangum, on November 29, 1920, to Walter Boyd and Thelma (Vanlandingham) Phillips. In 1937, she married John Wesley Price and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2004. After their marriage, they moved to California, where John served in the United States Army until his discharge in 1945. Due to the declining health of John's mother, they returned to Greer County where John worked several different jobs prior to purchasing and operating Price Machine Shop, and he also farmed and ran cattle. Being a farm wife, Joy was an expert in many trades. Over the years she became a proficient electrician, a carpenter, a plumber, a farmer and rancher as well as running a household, and keeping four rambunctious kids under control.

Preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Richard Price; one sister, Roma Nell Takala and two brothers, Leon Phillips and Walter B. Phillips, Jr., she is survived by four children: Ronald Price of Grand Lake, Colorado; John W. Price, Jr. of Weatherford, Oklahoma; Linda Fletcher and husband Don of Hester, Oklahoma; and Joyce Brown of Mangum; one sister, JoAnn Harris of California; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside memorial services for Joy Price will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Delhi Cemetery with Rev. Erin Martinez officiating. Services are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.

Online tributes may be made to the family at Greer Funeral Home.
