Tommy grew up on the family farm south of Sayre. He attended Sayre Whitehurst schools. Tommy worked alongside his father on the farm which included picking and chopping cotton, tending the family gardens, raising hogs and driving a tractor. In 1994, after his Mama's death, he joined the work program at Sagebrush and was a general laborer until he made his home at Hensley's. Throughout the last five years he affectionately became known as "Sherriff Tommy" to the staff and residents. Tommy enjoyed the Andy Griffith Show, old western movies and wearing his holster and guns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Darla Cowfer, Billie Davis and one niece Judy Drinnon.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Steve Jones and wife, Deanna, Sayre, OK, Troy Jones and wife, Sharon, Elk City, OK, Cindy Olaveson and husband, Kenneth, Carter, OK, Debbie Wimberly and husband Carl Dean, Carter, OK, Tammi Anter and husband, Sean, Oak Harbor, WA and Chris Cowfer, Snohomish, WA; his devoted friends at Sagebrush and Hensley's Nursing Home and a host of great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hensley's Nursing Home c/o The Activities Director at P.O. Box 465, Sayre, OK 73662.
Services will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Rose Chapel officiated by Marvin Savory. Burial will be at Delhi Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
