Ruth Tindell
Ruth Tindell was born March 5, 1917 in Osceola, Hill County, Texas to Mintie Ann (Wood) and William Riley Robinson. She passed away July 18, 2011 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 14 days.
Ruth, being the youngest of
9 children, whose mother died when she was 2, was raised by her father and older
siblings. The family moved to Beckham County when she was 10 where she attended
Prairie View Baptist Church and Bellvue School, finishing the 8th grade there.
She attended Doxey High School until her marriage to Lee C. Tindell on February
4, 1933, near Sayre. After their marriage they lived in Beckham and Roger Mills
counties for about 3 years before moving with their two small daughters to
California. In 1940 they returned to Oklahoma where they settled in the Roll
community in Roger Mills county where their son was born. The family resided
there until 1961 when they moved to the family farm on the north fork of the Red
River near Carter. In 1975, after Lee's death, Ruth moved to Carter where she
made her home. She attended the Methodist Church, was active in the Senior
Community Center and quilting clubs. Ruth was a seamstress, quilter, gardener,
game player, and an avid traveler who took many snapshots.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
She is survived by her 3 children, Deloris Brixey, Wichita, KS, Delma Tindell,
Carter, OK and Bruce Tindell, also of Carter, OK, 11 grandchildren; several
great and great great grandchildren, 1 sister, V.V. Brayfield, San Francisco, CA
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
