E. Lauwiona (Fish) Ford was born February 2, 1932, in Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Perry and Arvie Fish. She passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2016 in Amarillo, Texas at the age of 84 years.

As a child, Lauwiona grew up in rural Oklahoma and New Mexico with her brothers and sisters. In September 1950, she married her husband Walter Ford. They resided in Wichita, Kansas where they worked at Boeing. Their daughter Tammie was born in 1958 while living in Wichita. They also lived in El Paso and Roswell NM. In 1962, they moved to Berlin, OK where they owned a country grocery store and gas station. In 1965, they moved to Carter, OK where they owned a small town grocery store, Ford’s Grocery. Walter passed away in 1979 at which time Lauwiona moved to Amarillo. She was loving, kind, selfless, generous, patient and had a keen sense of humor. Her hobbies included reading, history, writing poetry, drawing and studying the Bible.

She is preceded in death by her husband, sons Don and Bob Ford, parents, sister Virginia F. Reed, brother Stanley Fish.

She is survived by 2 daughters Tammie L. Jennings and husband David of Amarillo; Margaret Rippetoe and husband Bill of Mustang; son Joe Ford and wife Tessie of Alamogordo, NM; 2 sisters Roxie Broyles and husband Stanley of Amarillo; Patsy Varnell of Sayre; brother J.W. Fish and wife Shirley of El Reno OK. 13 grandchildren; Bonnie, Darrell, Clifton, Donnie, Stan, Ricky, Bobbie, Scott, Vickie, Clifford, Lisa, Jessica, Tanner and a multitude of great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Rose Chapel in Sayre at 2:00 P.M. under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held by the family at Carter Cemetery following the memorial service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com.
