Nolan was born August 31, 1929 to his parents Allen and Beula (Walker) Britton in Carter, OK. Nolan grew up in Carter, OK and married Phyllis Roles March 1, 1952 in Wheeler, TX. They resided in Sayre OK from 1980 to 2003. Nolan was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as taking rides in his jeep. Nolan worked in the oil and gas business for many years. Nolan’s greatest love was for his family and farming his land. Ranching and attending his animals brought him great satisfaction and joy. Nolan served his community with great pride as the Sayre City Manager. He also sat on the Carter School Board for many years.
Nolan is survived by his 2 daughters: Debbie and husband Scott Adams of Fargo, Ok, Carla and husband Mike McDaniel of Sayre, OK; 2 sons: Nelson and wife Brenda Britton of Carter, OK, Mark and wife Gina Britton of Carter, OK; 1 brother: Wallace Britton of Sun City, AZ; 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of longtime friends and neighbors.
Nolan is preceded in death by his parents, wife: Phyllis Britton in 1977; 4 brothers; 1 sister, and 3 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Carter Cemetery with Jase Hargrove officiating. Services are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service, Sayre.
