Shirley Ann Barker was born December 1, 1941 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Lillian and Jap Rippetoe. She passed away April 15, 2017 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Shirley grew up west of Carter on the family farm. She attended schools in Carter and graduated from Delhi High School in 1959. After graduation she attended one year of college at Sayre Junior College. She was married to Kenneth Darrell Barker at Granite, Oklahoma on July 21, 1960. After their marriage they lived in Clinton, Oklahoma and was a secretary for J.C. Penny's while Darrell completed his education degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Upon Darrell's graduation they moved to Mangum, Oklahoma, Dallas, Texas and Mountain View, Oklahoma before making their home in Sayre, Oklahoma in 1980. Shirley began working for the Beckham County District Attorney's office as a secretary for 27 years. In 1982 she and Darrell began Custom Pest Control which is still in operation today. Shirley enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking for her family, going fishing and boating and spending time with her family and friends. She was also a member of Sayre First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kim Howerton, 1 beloved granddaughter, Shelby Fite; 1 sister, Mary Jo Cavanaugh; mother-in-law, Ernestine Barker; sister and brother-in-law, Rex and Mary Sheppard; brother-in-law, Troy Jones.

She is survived by her husband, Darrell, of the home; 2 children, Ken Barker and wife, Mary, Elk City, OK and Karen Kennedy and husband, Kenny, Cordell, OK; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren 11 brothers and sisters, Joel Rippetoe and wife, Laveta, Sayre, OK, Roger Wayne Rippetoe, Carter, OK, Gary Rippetoe and wife, Nelda, Carter, OK, Larry Rippetoe and wife, Mary Sue, Carter, OK, Pat Simpson and husband, Roger, Carter, OK, Kathy Moore and husband, Rocky, Yukon, OK, J.B. Rippetoe and wife, Jane, Carter, OK, Phyllis Ward and husband, Randy, Jal, NM, Jan Helling and fiance`, Lance, Elk City, OK, Sharon Jones, Elk City, OK and Martheia Simpson and husband, Bobby, Carter, OK and a host of many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
