Willis Gene Berry was born on July 17, 1941 in Magazine, Arkansas to E.A. (Dick) and Atha Lee Berry (Jenkins) Wright. He passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 in his home in Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 77.
He was married to Florence Ann Mahl at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Elk City, Oklahoma on September 16, 1960 and he continued to call her his bride for the entire 58 years of their marriage. During their life together, Willis had some diverse occupations including wood finishing, semi-truck driving, and real estate agent/broker. Willis enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, traveling, being an OU fan, people watching and storytelling.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister, Eula Vern (Sis) Jenkins and his son-in-law, Scott Whitaker.
Willis is survived by his wife, Florence of the home; three daughters, Amy Willyard and her husband, Shawn of Wellston, Oklahoma, Debbie Whitaker of Norman, Oklahoma, and Tinette Holmes and her husband, Chris of Elk City, Oklahoma; two brothers, J. W. (Dub) Berry and his wife, Thelma of Elk City, Oklahoma and Rodney Berry and his wife, Kim of Tioga, North Dakota; one sister, Linda Steehler and her husband, Richard of Muskogee, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Andy Jenkins and his wife Barbara of Haskell, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, Nathan, Rachel, Travis, Shannon, Kayla, Miranda, Kya, Kelsi, and Christopher and eighteen great-grandchildren.
