Judy had vivid memories of attending multiple elementary schools while her family moved around with her father's job as a Bell Telephone lineman. The family eventually settled in Sayre, Ok, where she attended school for most of her education. At the age of 16, Judy married Gerald Vinson Tipton on January 17, 1953 at Sayre Methodist Church. She and Gerald moved to Sweetwater, OK where Judy spent her first married years finishing high school and helping get their farm started. Their early farming years were interrupted by a draft notice for Gerald. She and Gerald lived briefly in Germany where their first daughter, Lisa, was born. They returned to make their lifelong home in Sweetwater, Ok, and, at first, partnered in the Tipton Brothers Dairy. They soon had another daughter, Jan. As the family grew, Judy and Gerald started their own dairy, Hol-Tip Farm. Two more daughters, Lori and Tammy, were added to the family. Most of her years were spent gardening, cooking/canning and raising her girls. However, Judy was eventually able to enjoy her hobbies of painting ceramics, quilting, reading historical fiction and traveling. She was an active member of the Sweetwater Baptist Church where she lovingly served God and her church family in many roles. She and Gerald enjoyed many years of travel with both lifelong friends and their many newer friends in their Holiday Rambler RV Club. Selling the motorhome was a sad moment for both Judy and Gerald but they found that many of their traveling friends were happy to travel to the Tipton's for a game of Joker. In their last years at home on the farm before moving to assisted living, they especially enjoyed games of Joker with their part-time caregivers Pam Hagerman and Carolyn and Johnnie Thompson. Greg and Jan Henson were also lifelong friends and wonderful helpers whenever Judy needed them. Despite her many activities with church and friends, Judy most anticipated and enjoyed weekends when the kids and grandchildren gathered to share special occasions - from birthdays and dove hunts to salsa-making and apple-picking. She and Gerald often sat outside their home in the evening, admiring their farm around them, praying prayers of gratitude and hoping the kids where planning a trip home.
Judy is preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Kay, parents Ruth and Oscar Stutzman, brothers-in-law Eugene Tipton, Billy Tipton and Rex Johnson and sister-in-law, Betty Tipton.
She is survived by husband, Gerald Tipton, of Elk City, OK, Lisa and Jerry Alexander of Sweetwater, OK, Jan and Jeff Franks of Watonga, OK, Tammy and Randall Fuchs of Blanchard, OK, brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Ann Stutzmen, of Mansfield, TX, sister – Susie (Stutzman) Johnson of Miami, TX , Norma Tipton of Elk City, Ok, Frank Tipton of Borger, TX, and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family.
