Troy grew up in Mayfield and New Liberty communities. He attended Sweetwater and New Liberty schools graduating from Sweetwater High School in 1950. While in high school he was married to Joy (Honsinger) Sites at Wheeler, Texas on July 29, 1948. He completed school and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1950. He was offered a basketball scholarship but declined so he and Joy could remain in the Mayfield community to care for Troy's parents. Troy continued to farm after the passing of his parents and had a custom farming operation bailing hay for most everyone in that area. Troy enjoyed basketball and baseball but his passion in life was attending his grandchildren's stock shows and sporting events. He was also a member of the Erick Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; one son, Ray Dean Sites and wife, Rhonda, Mt. View, OK; 2 grandchildren, Ryan Sites and wife, Wendy, Tuttle, OK and Robyn Rudisill and husband, Todd, Springdale, AR; 5 great grandchildren, Raegan, Kaysen and Rhett Sites and Grayson and Emory Rudisill; 2 special children, Craig Honsinger, Kingman, AZ and Teddy Gribble, Electra, TX and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
