Jeannie Lucile Nabors Schmitz was born April 18, 1945 in California to Lucile and Leo Nabors, and passed away November 8, 1999 in her home after a brief illness at the age of 54 years, 6 months and 20 days.Jeannie had lived most of her life in Oklahoma.
She was Mrs. Oklahoma in 1993 and then moved to Arizona where she was crowned Mrs. Arizona in 1996.
She was active in Toastmasters, Pinnacle Peak Lion's Club, and the Cowboys for Kids charity.
Professionally she was the Volunteer Coordinator for Vista Hospice of Scottsdale.
She was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; one son, Chris Schmitz of Phoenix, Arizona; three daughters, Julie Martin of Phoenix, Arizona; Raquel Pletcher and husband Brian of Virginia; and Megan Carnahan of Phoenix, Arizona; her mother, Lucille Nabors of Elk City, Oklahoma; one sister, Janice and husband, Jim Blanken of Elk Cy, Oklahoma; two brothers, Ronald Nabors of Carter, Oklahoma; and Gary Nabors and wife, Cheryl of Iberia, Missouri; two grandchildren,Cameron and Conner of Virginia; and numerous friends.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 1999 at the Whinery-Savage Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Avery officiating.
Interment was in the Buffalo Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Savage Funeral Service.
The family request memorials be made in Jeannie's memory to the Cowboys for Kids organization at 47811 North 41st Avenue, New River, Arizona 85087.
