Grace Purcell Vaught was born July 4, 1891 in Collins County, Texas and departed this life December 1, 1941 at the age of 50 years, 4 months and 27 days.
Grace came to Oklahoma in 1903 with her parents. In 1908 she was married to Hugh Howell. To this union were born Leroy, having preceded her in death. Juanita and Billy of Sweetwater, Oklahoma. She joined the Baptist Church at the age of 17 at Buffalo, Oklahoma. In 1925 Grace was married to Claude Vaught, he having preceded her in death.
Grace made a habit of doing for others, no task too great for those she loved. Following the death of their mother, Tony and Virgil, small sons of Homer Purcell, she spent 7 years caring for them until her health failed her.
She leaves to mourn her departure, two daughters, Mrs. Lennie Coffe and Mrs. Orval Blevins of Sweetwater, Oklahoma, three brothers, Bert Purcell of Reydon, Oklahoma, Homer and Earnest Purcell of Tracy, California; three sisters, Mrs. Jim Andre of Waco, Texas, Mrs. Norvel Giddens of Allison, Texas and Miss Donnie Purcell of Modesto, California; seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Fatheree Funeral Home of Erick and Reydon had charge. Rev. M.A. Hawkins of the Assembly of God Church, conducted the services at the Community Building Thrusday at 1 p.m. Interment was at Buffalo Cemetery by the side of her son, Leroy.
Six nieces were flower girls, Miss Jane and Miss June Purcell, Mrs. Eugene Estes, Mrs. Charles Simpson, Woodward, Oklahoma, Mrs Ross Hooper and Mrs. Lewis Goodwin of Waco, Texas.
