Jody Von Allen was born March 12, 1971 in Sayre, Oklahoma and passed away July 7, 1989 in the Sayre Memorial Hospital at the age of 18 years, 3 months and 25 days.
Jody lived all of his life in Sayre and would have been a senior at Sayre High School in the upcoming year. He was a member of the Sayre Future Farmers of America and loved to hunt and fish. In quiet moments Jody wrote poems. After reading the following poem he said, "This is what I want when I depart his earth."
A Cowboy Shouldn't Never Be Fenced In.
When I depart this earth
Just plant me somewhere in the west
Let the rattlers crawl over me
Let the cattle rub my tombstone down
Let the horses paw and tamp my mound
But please don't fence me in.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Von and Kay Allen of Yucaipa, California; his mother, Janice Wolfe of Kansas City, MO; his grandparents, Bowie and Ruby Lea Allen of Sayre, Delores and Wes Vandine of Carter; his great grandmother, Maggie Faye Green, Retha Graham; 2 sisters, Deidra and Kacy Allen; 3 brothers, Dustin, Jeremy and Jake Allen; 1 step brother, Jeffery; 1 stepsister, Courtney; a special friend, Missy Bleavins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9, 1989 at the Church of Christ at 2:30 p.m. with Eddie Beard and Eddie Von Wells officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo Cemetery, under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Sayre.
