Laverne – The funeral for Vera Alice Criswell Armstrong, 83, will be today at 10:30 PM in the Seager Funeral Home Chapel, Laverne, with burial following at Madison Cemetery, Slapout, under direction of Seager Funeral Home.
She was born January 7, 1913, to Oscar and Cora Boren Criswell, and died Saturday, December 2, 1995, at her residence in Odessa, Texas, after a lengthy illness.
She grew up in the Bluegrass and Madison communities in Beaver County, attending Glendale and Madison schools.
Armstrong married Walter (Jack) Armstrong December 4, 1928, at Hoxie, Kansas, and resided in Beaver County until World War I I. After traveling extensively for eight years they moved to Odessa where they lived for the past 45 years.
She was a homemaker and member of the Second Baptist Church in Odessa.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack of Odessa; daughters, Jean Clemons and Marjorie Bradley both of Odessa; brothers, John Criswell of El Paso, Texas, Darrel Criswell of Scott City, Kansas, Norman Criswell of Hobbs, New Mexico, Norval Criswell of Seymour, Tennessee and Larry Criswell of Wichita, Kansas; sister Doris Davis of Balko; two grandchildren and three great – grandchildren.
Armstrong was preceded in death by a sister.
