Charles Lee Cooksey, age 62, a longtime Atoka, OK resident. He was born on Thursday, January 9, 1964, to Harold Dean Sr. and Jewel Lucille (Drain) Cooksey, at Ft. Worth, TX. Charles passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Durant, OK. He graduated from Tushka High School. Charles was a stocker for vendors at Walmart for 30 years, four months and six day. He previously worked as receiving manager for Walmart. He married Karen Jean (Nutt) on Saturday, November 26th, 1983 at Atoka, OK. They have celebrated over 42 years of marriage before his passing. Charles was of the Baptist Faith. He attended Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed pulling pranks at times, coon hunting, fishing, with his old buddy Ron Winter, sports, deer hunting and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his wife, Karen Jean Cooksey of the home in Atoka, OK; children, Waede Ames and wife Keisha, Chadd Cooksey and fiance' Courtney Stephen, Jordan Taylor and husband Tye; grandchildren, Tyler Ames and fiance' Carmella Lopez, Kaylee Ames, Keely Wingate, Shakota Stephens, Taleska Stephens, Bucklee Charlz Taylor; brother, Harold Dean "JR" Cooksey and fiance' Suzie Valle; in laws, Teresa Combs and husband Randy, Sandra Trent and husband Mike, Stacy Nutt and wife Ann, Phillip Nutt and wife Tamara; favorite aunt and uncle, Leon and Carrie Huschke; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Dean Sr. and Jewel Lucille Cooksey; daughter, Christy (Ames) Bench and husband Jack Bench; brother, Carroll Cooksey and wife Verna; grandson, Isaiah Billy; grandparents, Charles and Elizabeth Cooksey, Archie and Johnnie Drain.
