Violet "Nell" Whitmire, 84 of Hopewell passed away February 19, 2013 in Durant.
She was born July
24, 1928 in Voca, OK to Aaron Carl Nix and Vera Hesstella (Prater) Nix.
She attended Caney High School and married Harold "Slim" Whitmire on
July 10, 1947 in Durant, OK. Violet was a homemaker and loved being
outside working in her yard planting flowers, fishing, and spending time
with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Verdell, Aaron, and
Carl Edward Nix.
Violet is survived by her husband Harold "Slim" Whitmire of Coleman, OK;
daughters Coleen Blakney and husband James of Kenefic, OK, Tina Ashlock
and husband Doug of Boswell, OK; brothers Roger and Roy Nix; Sisters
Ruby Stoops, Royce Geiger, Betty Nix; granddaughters Bonnie Crawford and
husband Cody of Caddo, OK, Terri Blakney of Caddo, OK, Sherri Fitzgerald
of Caddo, OK; grandsons Robin Sullivan of Coleman, OK, Jacob Harrington
of Durant, OK; great granddaughters Brooke Crawford, Cady Crawford,
Kaelynn Fitzgerald of Caddo, OK; great grandsons Rylan Fitzgerald, Dylan
Fitzgerald of Caddo, OK, and numerous other family, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be Friday, February 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Hopewell
Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Randy Tadlock and Bro. Mark White
officiating with interment at Center Hill Cemetery.
Family Hour will be on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 6-8:00 PM at Brown's Funeral Service Durant. Pallbearers will be Doug Hyde, Donnie Hyde, Donnie Hyde Jr., Richard Nix, Richard Whitmire, and Jerry Whitmire.
