Gerald Stanley, a proud 43 year veteran of the United States Army Reserve, joined his Savior on October 19, 2021 at the age of 75.
He was born in Kenefic, OK to Fred Stanley and Wilma (Needham) Stanley on November 11, 1945. Gerald married his cherished wife Jo Ann Lisman in Durant, OK on December 28, 1964. Gerald was a Supervising Staff Administrator for the US Army, 95th Division, and a civil servant. He was a runner for 40 years completing many 5 K's, logging literally hundreds of mile across the state of Oklahoma, continuing this activity into his 60's. Gerald was known for his knowledge of history, he was often found with a good book in his hand. He liked to participate in a good game of slow pitch softball and was of the Baptist faith. Gerald always took the greatest pleasure from spending time with his children and grandchildren, he considered them his greatest blessing.
Mr. Stanley is survived by his beloved wife, Jo Ann of the home, son, Wayne Stanley and wife Pamela of Durant, OK, daughter, Lee Ann Stanley of Durant, OK, grandchildren, Jimi Stanley and wife Tysha of Tecumseh, OK, KC Bess of McAlester, OK, and Taegan Stanley of Durant, OK, numerous great-grandchildren, and he is also survived by his brothers, Edward Stanley and wife, Nancy of Plano, TX, Everett Stanley of Caddo, OK, David Stanley and wife Annette of Coleman, OK, and Howard Stanley and wife Elizabeth of Milburn, OK.
Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Wilma Stanley, brothers, Fred Wayne, Jerry, and William Stanley, and sister, Ellen Sampson.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at the Center Hill Cemetery in Coleman, OK with Bro Howard Stanley officiating. Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, OK.
