Johnny Ray Howard, 69, of Sadler, Texas, passed away from this life on September 3, 2025, in Denison, Texas. He was born on October 6, 1955, in Williams, Arizona, to Gerald Glen Howard and Ora Cumi Howard (Green).
Johnny graduated from Grapevine High School where he was a member of FFA and the rodeo team. He was a joyful, generous, and deeply compassionate soul, with a heart full of love for everyone, especially the family he cherished above all. He was very proud of his family's success in the horse racing industry. In Johnny's perfect world, he was riding horseback across his grand ranch, bull ridin' and rodeo'n, living the cowboy life he loved. Johnny was a marvelous sketch artist. He loved listening to country music and watching westerns on television. He spread happiness to all, especially his beloved nieces and nephews. Johnny will be greatly missed.
Johhny is preceded in death by his parents; Gerald Glen Howard and Ora Cumi Howard, brothers; Tom Howard, Dan Howard, Roger Howard, and nephews; Samuel Dumas, Sam Howard, and Jake Howard.
Johnny is survived by his brother; Sam Howard and spouse Sharon of Gordonville, Texas, brother; Gerald Howard Jr. of Miner Hill, Tennessee, sister; Mary Howard of Gordonville, Texas, sister; Wanda Roderick of Ft. Worth, Texas, brother; Wayne Pete Howard and spouse Jill of Ada, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 PM, at Brown's Funeral Service chapel in Durant, Oklahoma.
A funeral service for Johnny will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Brown's Funeral Service chapel with Luke Howard officiating.
Burial will take place at Stewart Gammon Cemetery in Caney, Oklahoma, following the service. Serving as pallbearers are Bain Howard, Casey Howard, Cody Howard, Shane Howard, Jackson Howard, Caleb Howard and J.C. Wilkins.
Services are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Services.
