Funeral services for Zeak Woodrow Sheffield, a longtime Lane area resident, will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Lane Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Murray offficiating. Family night will be Friday evening 6:00 to 8:00 at Brown's Funeral Service n Atoka. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sheffield was born January 4, 1917 at Bagota, TX to William and Alice (Tigert) Sheffield and passed away June 27, 2011 at Atoka at the age of 94. He attended harmony School and married Voda Crain on November 2, 1946 at Ukiah, CA. Mr. Sheffield worked road maintenance for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for Atoka County. He was a member of the Lane Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include Voda )Crain) Sheffield of the home in Lane, OK; children, Sam Crain of Lane, Carol Clemens and husband Garry of Coalgate, Norma Burk and husband Howard of Justin, TX, Kenneth Sheffield and wife Bobbie of Ferris, TX, Phyllis Ridgeway of Justin, TX, Donna Berry and husband Cliff of Harmony, Troy Sheffield and wife Lisa of Ada, twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins adn other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Stephen Sullivan and Catrina Gayle Ridgeway; great grandchild, Matthew Valenzuela; siblings, Callie Latimer, Mary Mead, Alma Bomesberger, Faye Faulkenberry, Ruth Crews, Leonard Sheffield, Jess Sheffield, Ray Sheffield, Jewel Sheffield, and Arthur Sheffield; and daughter-in-law, LaJuanna Crain.
Casketbearers will be Devin Ridgeway, Derek Marlow, Jeff Thompson, Cody Thompson, Brian Ridgeway, Patrick Sheffield, Zac Berry, Chase Sheffield, Tanner Sheffield, and Nick Granados. Honorary bearers will be Junior Sheffield, Curtis Sheffield, Kenneth Mosier, Doyle Sheffield, Larry Sheffield, Delbert Sheffield, Dale Sheffield, Jack Sheffield, Leon Robertson, and Charles Robinson.
