Dood Dee McDougal, age 80, an Atoka, OK resident who always considered Lane/Atoka his home no matter where he traveled. He was born on Saturday, April 1, 1944, to James "Chock" Doys and Eva Lanell (Lane) McDougal, at Crane, TX. Dood passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Muskogee, OK surrounded by his loving family. He graduated from Tushka High School with the class of 1963 and went on to SOSU where he received his degree in Structural Engineering. Dood retired as Superintendent of Ironworkers in high rise constructions. Dood proudly served his country in The United States Army for 11 years, having served in Vietnam and North Africa, earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and had national security clearance. He married Norma Lee (Wilson) on Sunday, July 4th, 1993 at St. Croix, US VI. They celebrated almost 35 years of marriage, was together for almost 46 years. Dood attended Lane Pentecostal Church of God, he loved his church and church family. He loved being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Each year him and two brothers in law would go hunting in Oregon for elk and bear, they would also go jug lining in Lake Eufaula. He enjoyed tracing his ancestry, following his roots. He was on the Rudy Doctray Show. Dood raised Emus and had the first and only Emu rodeo in Talihina, OK.
Dood is survived by his wife, Norma Lee McDougal of the home in Atoka, OK; children, Bryan Michael McDougal and wife Kelly of WS, Shawn Patrick McDougal and wife Megan of AZ, Christopher Alan McDougal of CO, Ian Lee Dood Dee McDougal and wife Jennifer of CO, Jammie Lee Sheffield and wife Elaine of OK, Anna Josette (Sheffield) Thompson and husband Zane of TX; special nieces, Ollie Donnette Dandridge (Wilson) and Khyisha (Dandridge) Thompson of OK; brother, Hoppy McDougal of OK; sisters,Frances Laverne Byrns Heskett of OK, Sandy Kay McDougal Potts and husband Jody of OK, Bonnie (McDougal) Eastland of CO; special brother in law, Bobby Wilson and wife Brenda of OK; sister in law, Janie (Wilson) Parks of OK; grandchildren, Diann K. McDougal of KS, Amanda (McDougal) Zindars and husband Tyler of CO, Rhiannon Thomas of AZ, Ian McDougal of AZ, Janna Janeane Hunter of CO, Evan Lee McDougal of CO, River McDougal of OK, Bradley Reed and wife Ashkia of OK, Jody Sheffield of OK, Bridget (Reed) Herring and husband Dalton of OK, Haley Sheffield Moore and husband Logan of OK; great grandchildren, Brooklynn Reed, Kaidan Liddell, Mason Liddell, Emma Liddell, Grayson Moore, Carson Moore, Landon Moore, Trig'r Reed, Timmy Zindar, Abby Zindar, Gracy Zindar, Ray Ray Thompson, Charlie Thompson, Mack Thompson, Ford Thompson, Victoria Rose Thompson, Ruger Moon of OK; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Dood was preceded in death by his parents, James and Eva Lanell (Lane) McDougal; mother in law, Ollie Lee Wilson; brother, Albert Byrns; loving grandson, Zachariah Michael Gerald McDougal; sisters in law, Freada (Wilson) Hawkins, Donna (Bolic) Wilson; brothers in law, Don Edward Wilson, Charlie Ray Wilson; very special niece he proudly raised, Lynn Dee Dandridge; nephews, Roy Moore, Paul R. Wilson, Edward Wilson; special stepdad, Mack Byrns.
