The funeral for Frank Andrew Rust Sr., 81, of Enid, will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Chris Tolle will officiate. Burial will be in Ware Cemetery near Jet. Visitation with the family will be 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Byron to Oscar Alva and Sadie Elen Ward Rust and died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at his home in Enid.
He grew up in the Salt Plains area. He served in the Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and 508th Infantry. He married Maxine “Charlie” Stanley Oct. 3, 1947, in Chesterfield, S.C. They lived in Baltimore and Oklahoma and moved to California in 1951. He sold poultry to movie stars. Later, he worked as a centerless grinder for post grinding. They returned to Oklahoma in 1973. He built oval-shaped barns for several months. He then worked at Adams Alloy in Wakita until retiring in 1990. He was a member of Enid Masonic Lodge No. 80, 32nd Scottish Rite Mason of Guthrie, Tulsa Akdar Shrine, Northwest Oklahoma Funsters and Enid Moose Lodge.
Surviving are five children, Frank Rust II of Blythe, Calif., Mike Rust of Longbeach, Calif., Keith Rust of Baldwin Park, Calif., Steve Rust of Enid and Kathy Duerden of Enid; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, and three sisters.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Akdar Shrine Transportation Fund.
