ENID — JET — Funeral service for Jerry Shaklee will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Jet United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Irby officiating. Burial will follow in Timberlake Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Helena. Viewing will be noon to 7 p.m. today with the family present from 5-7 p.m. Memories may be shared at www.lanmanmemorials.com.
Jerry was born July 25, 1940, in Cherokee to Don Shaklee and Gwendolyn Lucile Richardson Shaklee and passed from this life in Oklahoma City on Sunday, May 22, 2011.
Jerry graduated from Oklahoma State University Technology School in Stillwater with two degrees, auto and diesel tech. After college, Jerry worked as a mechanic for Halliburton in numerous locations across the Midwest.
He served in the U.S. Army in Hq. Company 18th Airborne Corps at Ft. Bragg as a mechanic, keeping General Westmoreland's jeep in pristine mechanical condition. He was a mechanic for Mid-America GMC in Oklahoma City, gas station and mechanic shop owner, station manager for Jet Co-op and truck driver for Sturgeon's Corner.
After he moved back to Jet in 1973, he started farming part-time along with his full-time job.
He married Shirley Koehn in 1992 and at the same time began farming full time, which included farming 2200 acres and running cattle and a cow-calf herd. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Jet and of Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Jet; daughter, Tammy Shaklee and husband Clif Mitchell of Austin, Texas; son, J.D. Shaklee and wife Katrina of Mustang; stepdaughters, Paula Sieber and husband Joe of Oklahoma City, Tina Bolinger and husband Gary of Kremlin and Sherri Thurston and husband Mark of Indiahoma; two sisters, Connie LaGrow and husband Jerry and Lana Schiltz; grandchildren, Cal and Kate Shaklee of Edmond, Joseph Sieber of Royse City, Texas, Jamie Sieber of Stillwater and Jennifer Sieber of Oklahoma City; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to Jet Firefighters Association through the funeral home.
