Ephraim Robbins
Ephraim Robbins was born at Barnsville, Ohio, Nov. 11, 1833. He was the son of Isaac and Sarah Robbins. He departed this life at Jet, Okla., Sept 9, 1929. In the year 1854 he was united in marriage to Miss Ida Clevenger. To this union eleven children were born, four having preceded him in death, namely, Hatty, Charles, Sarah and Seward. Those living are Anna J. Handy, of Coldwater; Mary Adeline Buckles, of North Hollywood, Calif.; Wm. Robbins, of Coldwater, Kans.; Mollie, of Coldwater; Levi Robbins, of Wichita; Jess Robbins, of Jet; Frank Robbins of Lyons. He had thirty-five grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren.
In the year 1873 he moved to Kansas. It was there God called his companion to her heavenly home.
On December 15, 1887, he was united in marriage to Miss Rebecca McKirahan, of Jeffersonville, Ill. To this union three children were born: Samuel Leo Robbins, who preceded him in death. Those living are John Asa Robbins, of Jet and Bessie Marie Hall, of Bethany, Okla.
After his conversion he was a member of Friends church at Stella. Later he united with the Mennonite Brethren in Christ at Jet. All who knew Father Robbins recognized he was desirous to be clean in life and practice.
His constant desire for his children was that they reverence God and observe the Sabbath with worship and live free from evil habits of every kind. During the last years of his life he manifested a great interest in the success of Wichita camp meeting, and others being conducted for the promotion of Bible holiness. He had a great interest for the spiritual welfare of his country that was not always expressed in word.
His faith in God was strong to the end. He stated he was reconciled to go and passed to his reward without a struggle.
