Funeral for George F. Hess, 92, Helena, who died in an Enid nursing home early Monday, will be at 1:30 PM Thursday in the First Methodist Church at Jet with the Rev. Brian Spivey officiating. Burial will be in the Timberlake Cemetery, northeast of Helena, under the direction of Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.
Hess was born in Clark County, near Kahoka, Missouri, August 5, 1886, and attended rural school there prior to moving to a farm in the Jet – Helena area in 1917. On January 2, 1907, he married Sarah E. Haye. She died August 31, 1969. He was a member of the Timberlake United Methodist Church for over 60 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Wespe and Mrs. Paul (Margaret) Buffalo, both of Enid; three sons, Oliver, Osceola, Missouri, Claude, Indianola, Iowa, and Leo, Wichita, Kansas; 23 grandchildren; 30 great – grandchildren; and one brother, Raymond, Barstow, California.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters and an infant son.
