Mass of Christian burial for Dr. Raymond Sidwell, 66, of Goltry, Okla., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Enid, with Rev. Joseph M. Irwin officiating.

Burial will be 2 p.m. in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Goltry, with arrangements by Anderson Burris Funeral Home, Enid. A rosary will be 7 p.m. today, Dec. 27, at the funeral home. Raymond was born to Jess and Marie (Semrad) Sidwell on June 5, 1947, in Enid, Okla., and passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, in Lahoma, Okla. Raymond grew up on the family farm outside of Pond Creek, Okla. He was active in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve achieving the rank of staff sergeant.

He graduated from OSU, earning his bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in agronomic sciences.

On Aug. 11, 1973, Raymond married Brenda Krittenbrink in Medford, Okla.

They moved to Texas in 1975, where Raymond worked as a plant breeder for Northrup King Seed Co. in New Deal, Texas, until 1980.

In May 1980, Raymond and Brenda moved to the farm in Goltry, Okla., where they started a family.

Raymond started working at North Central OSU Research Station in June 1980, where he became senior station superintendent.

Raymond was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Goltry, the Oklahoma Crop Improvement Association, National Rifle Association, Wheat Growers Association and the Wheat Commission.

He was an active donor to the OSU College of Agriculture and the School of International Studies, establishing Sidwell International Outreach.

Raymond is survived by wife, Brenda; daughter, Bambi Sidwell; son, Brady Sidwell; brother, Greg Sidwell; sisters, Cynthia Williams, Virginia “Gini” Zaloudek, Liz Zaloudek, Carmen Schultz, Mary Sidwell and Rosemary New.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, John and Jess Sidwell.

Memorials may be made in memory of Raymond Sidwell to St. Joseph Catholic School or OSU Foundation.
