Enid, OK — Funeral for Dorothy Vera Schiffner, 90, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, Alva. Pastor Sean Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Short Springs Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Greeley, Colo., to Jacob and Clemintine Turner Schiffner and died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Beadles Nursing Home, Alva.
She moved with her parents to Ashley at age six. She lived most of her life in Alfalfa County on the farm of her grandparents. She attended grade school in Short Springs and graduated from Alva High School in 1937.
She worked as a clerk and stocker at the F&M; Variety Store in Cherokee. When the store closed she worked at the “Factory” making women’s garments in Cherokee until it closed. She also helped out at the Ministerial Alliance Thrift Store. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ingersoll where she taught Sunday school.
She lived on her grandparents farm until 1993 when she moved to Cherokee, living there for 10 years before moving to Beadles Nursing Home Jan. 30, 2003.
Surviving are three cousins.
