HOWARD LeROY SAYERS
A private family burial for Howard LeRoy Sayers, age 74, will be held at Short Springs Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid, OK. There will be no viewing or visitation at the funeral home. He was born to Vernie and Alberta Mae Jessup Sayers on August 4, 1930 in Alfalfa County and died Monday, June 20, 2005 in Enid, OK.
Howard grew up in Cherokee, OK., attending school there. On July 2, 1952, he married Essie Brown in Great Bend, KS. They lived there for a short time before moving to Cherokee. He worked as a plumber, and then later worked for the city of Cherokee Water Department, and was a city commissioner at Cherokee. He retired in 1995, and they moved to Enid in 1999. He enjoyed studying and researching Cherokee Strip history.
He is survived by his wife, Essie of the home; one daughter Verna Davidson of Enid, OK.; one granddaughter, Krystal Davidson; two great-grandchildren, Trevor Williams and Abigail Short; three brothers, Clifford Sayers of Oklahoma City, OK., Rodney Sayers of Rockport, TX.; and Norman Sayers of Duncan, OK.; and one sister, Roberta Winningham of Allen, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie and Alberta Sayers.
