ENID — A private family burial for Essie Mae Sayers, 77, will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in Short Springs Cemetery. There will be no visitation or viewing. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.

Essie was born to Harold and Golda (Wright) Brown on July 7, 1935, in Ponca City and passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid.

Essie grew up in Ponca City and Alva.

On July 2, 1952, she married Howard Sayers in Great Bend, Kan. They later made their home in Cherokee.

Essie worked at Alfalfa County Hospital, and later at the Chuckwagon Café in Cherokee. She moved to Enid in 1998. She was grateful for the care she received at St. Mary's Infusion Clinic.

Essie is survived by daughter, Verna Davidson of Enid; granddaughter, Krystal Davidson of Enid; and four great-grandchildren, Trevor Williams, Abigail Short, Dustin Short and Trisa Atkinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard in 2005, two brothers and three sisters.
