WILMA JEAN "JEANIE" MAHNKEN
Funeral service for Wilma Jean "Jeanie" Mahnken, 87, will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Lanman Chapel in Cherokee with Joe Woods officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery near Jet.
Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee.
Viewing will be Monday 10 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. until just before service time. Memories may be shared with the family at . http://www.lanmanmemorials.com/
Jeanie was born July 21, 1925 in Aline to B. E. and Laura Nance Hall and passed from this life on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Greenbrier Nursing Home in Enid. She graduated from Aline High School in 1942. On July 21, 1946 she married Lloyd Mahnken, Jr. in Wichita, Kansas. They made their home on the farm near Jet and in 1961 they moved in to town. Lloyd Jr. passed away in 1987.
In 2004, after many years of living alone, Jeanie moved to Burgundy Place in Enid. She later moved to Greenbrier Assisted Living and then to Rogers Home at Greenbrier. Jeanie was an active member of Jet Christian Church and Christian Women's Fellowship. She was also active in Eastern Star and a long time volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital, having received her 50 year pin. Jeanie was a loving mother, grandmother and special friend to all those who met her.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd "Butch" Mahnken, III and wife, Peggy of Jet; granddaughters, Stephanie Jenlink and husband, Jay of Jet and Natalie Mahnken and fiancé, Chad Rosga of Dallas, Texas; great-grandsons, Cade and Ethan Jenlink of Jet; sister, Bonnie Brooks and husband, Tubby of Alva; sister-in-law, Joan Mahnken of Lubbock, Texas; nieces, Josetta Wallace of Carmen, Kelly Janes and husband, Kim of Shamrock, Texas, Melanie Miller and husband, Alan of Lubbock, Texas and nephew, Terry Brooks and wife, Dawn Gay of Alva.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Mahnken, Jr. and parents, B. E. and Laura Hall; sister, Olive England; brothers, Lyle and Elvin Hall.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Jet Fireman's Association, Pleasant View Cemetery or charity of your choice through the funeral home.
