Jim Newton, son of Clella Gertrude (Nall) and John Kolesar was born on April 4, 1936, at the Masonic Hospital in Cherokee, Oklahoma. He passed away on January 11, 2019, in Alva at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 7 days.
He attended the Jet school system where he graduated from high school with the class of 1954. He attended Northwestern State College, not finishing as he joined the United States Air Force serving 1957 to 1961, honorably discharged an E4. In 1961 he returned to Northwestern State College, lacking only six hours of earning his B.A. degree.
Jim married Anna Jean Wright on October 28, 1967 in Enid, Oklahoma and she passed away July 30, 1996.
Following their marriage they lived in Oklahoma City and in 1989 they moved to Alva to make their home.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Alva Moose Lodge.
Mr. Kolesar was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John, Jene and Joe. Jim is survived by his two daughters, Dana Reynolds (of Alva) and Danean Kolesar (of Marysville, Ohio); grandchildren Rikki, Trestan, Piper, Lindsay, Robin, Dylan, Isaac, Phillip and Elisa; two sisters, Joan Via (of Arlington) and Janice Farley (of Hardtner, Kansas); and a sister-in-law, Joan Kolesar (of Melton, Missouri). He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Phalen and Zoey; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Graveside services with full Military Honor Guard will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Jet, Oklahoma, on April 27, 2019, at 1 p.m.
Reception will generously be provided by the Senior Citizens and we are greatly appreciative.
