Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aline


Alva – Services for Mrs. Buren (Hazel) Easterling, 87, will be at 2 PM Saturday in the Green Valley Free Methodist Church, west of Carmen. The Rev. Carl Hawkins, assisted by the Rev. Tom Kagin will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, southwest of Aline.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wentworth Mortuary of Carmen.

Mrs. Easterling was born at Napa, Idaho, June 22, 1897, the daughter of Carvel and Anna Jane Bonham Clark. As a child she moved with her family to Portland, Oregon, before going to Pratt County, Kansas, and later to a farm near Bucklin, Kansas.

She completed school at Kingsdown, Kansas, and later attended Central College in McPherson, Kansas. She and Buren Easterling were married there December 19, 1917.

They made their home on a farm near Bucklin, then lived in McPherson before moving to a farm west of Aline where they lived until 1969 when he became ill and they moved to Alva. Her husband died January 14, 1970.

Mrs. Easterling was a member of the Green Valley Free Methodist Church and was active in the Alva Senior Citizens Center.

Mrs. Easterling is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Vaughna) McCray of Alva, her daughter – in – law, Ernestine Easterling of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Evelyn Myrle and a son, Dr. Marvin Leon Easterling, two brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Center of Alva with the funeral home serving as custodian of the contributions.

The casket will be open at the church from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM and will not be opened at the close of the service.
