Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Aline


Aline – The funeral for Dorothy Anderson, 76, will be 2 PM today in Parks Methodist Retirement Village with the Rev. James Otterness officiating. A service will be 2 PM Tuesday in Elm Flat Christian Church with the Rev. David Irwin and Tony Cornforth officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under direction of Frank W. Wilson funeral directors of Odessa, Texas and Wentworth Mortuary of Carmen. Friends and family may call from 8 AM to 10 PM Monday in Carmen and Tuesday from 8 to 10 AM.

She was born June 19, 1921, in Cleo Springs to Gilbert Jewell and Anna Sophia Beckwith and died Friday, March 13, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

She graduated from Aline high school and received a degree from the Business College in Oklahoma City. She was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company as a Secretary for more than 34 years. She married Melvin H. Anderson on June 6, 1953.

They both worked for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, McGregor, Texas, and Odessa, Texas. After retiring in 1982, they moved to Liberal, Kansas, and back to Odessa in 1989, living in the Parks Retirement Center.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin, of Odessa; one daughter, Virginia Barnett of Augusta, Kansas; one son, Richard Jewell of Goodwell; one brother, John Beckwith of Cleo Springs; eight grandchildren; and 12 great – grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Perpetual Cemetery Care with Wentworth Mortuary serving as custodian of the funds.
