Funeral for E. J. Howard, 91, will be held at 2 PM Saturday in Carmen Christian church. Rev. Ken Compton will officiate and burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary. Howard died February 13 at the Carmen Rest Home.
Elkain Jefferson Howard, son of Samuel A. and Susan Howard, was born January 8, 1866 in Illinois. The family lived in the Cartman community for many years and later moved to Wichita, Kansas, where they lived until he retired a number of years ago due to his health. The past several years they have lived in Carmen. He was a member of the Christian church and Masonic and I00F Lodges.
Survivors are his wife, Sallie; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Fowler, Carmen, and Mrs. Cecil Miller, Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Jan Race of Longville, Illinois; one brother, S. A. Howard, Longville, Illinois; two granddaughters and two great – grandchildren.
