Loveta E. Cook Booze
A graveside service for Loveta E. Cook Booze, 91, of Cherokee, will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, north of Carmen. The Rev. Matthew Yoder will officiate. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Cherokee. Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 4 to 6 p.m.
She was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Carmen to Jacob Frost and Mary Eugenia DeArmound Barker and died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at Forrest Manor Nursing Center, Dewey.
She attended Carmen public schools.
She married LeRoy A. “Juggie” Cook May 27, 1937, in Alva. They made their home on farms near Dacoma and Lambert. They moved to Cherokee in November 1967, where they lived until his death on April 1, 1971.
She worked at Cherokee Masonic Hospital and later as a clerk at McIntire Insurance Agency and was an Avon sales representative. She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church, Cherokee, where she taught in all departments and was the church pianist and song leader.
She married Charles E. Newlin June 27, 1981. He died Aug. 31, 1981. She married Sidney G. Booze Oct. 3, 1992, in Enterprise. They made their home in Oklahoma City and divorced in 2003. She returned to Cherokee and on April 7, 2007, she moved to Cherokee Manor and then to Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey on Sept. 30, 2007.
Surviving are one son, Leroy A. Cook of Bartlesville; one brother, Raymond E. Barker of Issaquah, Wash.; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Juggie and Charles, five sisters and four brothers.
