Richard "Dick" BENNETT
Services for Richard "Dick" Bennett, 92, a former mayor of Aline were held May 2,1986 at the Aline United Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd Conaway officiating. Bennett died April 30 in a Carmen Nursing Home. Burial was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery north of Carmen.

He was born August 31,1893 in Weir Kansas to Edward and Elizabeth Knapp Bennett. He married Olive Brown on August 31,1914 in Carmen. She died December 24,1976. He married Ruth Elwell on December 22,1979 in Aline.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aline and was active in church and community affairs. He was an agent for the Santa Fe Railroad in Carmen, Yued and Aline. He served as mayor of Aline for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son Richard LeRoy Bennett, Wheatland, California; three daughters Mrs B.E. (Doris) Davis of Muskogee Oklahoma, Mrs. Richard (Pat) Coleman of LaFeria Texas, and Mrs. Ira (Billie) Dick of Enid; a sister Mrs Bessie Kleinsteiber of Amarillo, Texas; nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters and four brothers
