The funeral for Burl Clark Grunewald, 57, of Nescatunga, will be 2 p.m. today, Dec. 9, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Tom Cooksey will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Keith Cemetery. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee.

He was born Feb. 11, 1952, in Alva to Ray and Mary Elizabeth Campbell Grunewald and died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at his home.

He was a graduate of Driftwood High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps at age 17, serving in the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, he attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1978.

He lived in the area for a while, later working for the Dewey post office. He had a residence in Bartlesville but spent most of his time in Nescatunga.

He attended First Baptist Church, Cherokee, and was a member of American Legion.

Surviving are his mother, Mary Ritchie of Cherokee; one son, Stanley Grunewald of Henryetta; two daughters, Staci Grunewald of Las Vegas and Casey Grunewald of Ochelata; one brother, Alan Grunewald of Bixby; five grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepfather.
