ENID, Okla. — Funeral for C. Marvin Wedel, 100, of Enid, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Enid. Andy Teague will officiate. Burial in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry, under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
He is survived by sons, Bill Wedel and wife Janet of Salinas, Calif., Charles Wedel Jr. and wife Carol of Waukomis, Larry Wedel and wife Marcia of North Las Vegas, Nev., and Richard Wedel and wife Sue of Garfield, Ark.; three sisters; and one sister-in-law.
Memorials to the Dean McGee Eye Institute, Glaucoma Research, with Henninger-Hinson as custodians.

Marvin was born on a farm near Elyria in Lone Tree Township, McPherson County, Kan., on July 25, 1912, to Jacob Tobias and Eva (Unruh) Wedel and passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Greenbrier Nursing Home.
The family moved to a farm near Goltry when Marvin was at an early age. He attended Goltry schools, graduating in 1931.
He married Sophia Marie Becker March 22, 1933. They had five sons, Billy Don, Jerry Dean, Charles Marvin, Larry Ray and Richard Eugene.
Marvin worked various jobs as a young man, then began farming the family farm. When it sold, he moved his family to a farm near Marshall in 1947, and later in 1950, he and his family moved to Enid, where Marvin spent the rest of his working days as a homebuilder. He worked for several contractors over the years.
Marvin was ordained as a deacon at the Baptist Church in Marshall.
Upon moving to Enid, he served as a deacon at Trinity Baptist Church. The family joined First Baptist Church of Enid in 1957.
He and his wife Sophia founded the singles department and he served as an active deacon at the church for as many years as his advancing age and loss of eyesight would allow.
He is survived by sons, Bill Wedel and wife Janet of Salinas, Calif., Charles Wedel Jr. and wife Carol of Waukomis, Okla., Larry Wedel and wife Marcia of North Las Vegas, Nev., and Richard Wedel and wife Sue of Garfield Ark.; sisters, Ruby Sidman of Wichita, Kan., Verbina Claassen of Whitewater, Kan., Rosalie Glidewell of Lincoln, Ark.; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Wedel of Wichita, Kan. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sophia; son, Jerry Dean; brothers, Roy, Arthur and Herman Wedel; and sister, Erma Weiss.
Memorials may be made to Dean McGee Eye Institute, Glaucoma Research, with Henninger-Hinson acting as custodian of the funds.
