Clarence Kendall Wayman, 92, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at his home.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011, in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry. Arrangements are under the direction of Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Condolences may be given to the family at http://www.lanmanmemorials.com/.
Clarence Kendall Wayman was born Sept. 24, 1919, to Jesse Earl and Mildred Mabel (Secord) Wayman in Goltry, Okla.
He graduated from Goltry High School in 1936.
During World War II, Clarence served his country as an Aviation Machinist 1st Class in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1945. He then attended Central State University and Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, where he received his degree in animal husbandry.
When he came home from the service and college, he moved back to the family farm. Clarence, along with his brother James, began raising Poland China Hogs. His true passion was raising, showing and judging purebred hogs. He also attended hog shows and loved helping young people get started in the hog business.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, but attended the Goltry Congregational Church.
He married Norris (Trudy) Berry in Goltry on April 16, 1984. They lived in Goltry. Trudy died Dec. 12, 1986.
He married Ruby Christian in San Diego on Feb. 19, 1988, and lived in Goltry and San Diego. Ruby died April 19, 1996.
Clarence then moved back to Goltry and has lived there since that time.
Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lida Cooper; and four brothers, Dean, James, Byron and Phil Wayman.
He is survived by a stepson, Phil Davis and wife Donnie of Salt Lake City, Utah; granddaughter, Jennica Davis; two sisters, Ruthalie Heffner of Show Low, Ariz., and Betty Hollingshead of Oklahoma City; brothers, Hugh and wife Betty Jean of Oklahoma City, Bob and wife Doris of Boise Idaho, Sam and wife Donna of Hemphll Texas, and Jay and wife Pauline of LaGrange, Texas; brother-in-law, Gene Cooper of Newcomerstown, Ohio; and sister-in-law, Alma Wayman of Olympia, Wash.; nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials may be made to Goltry Fire Department, Congregational Church of Goltry or Oklahoma State University Scholarship Fund in Animal Science with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
