ENID — Memorial service for Hart Ray Pekrul, 87, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Gordon Jantz officiating. A private family graveside service will be in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry, before the memorial service.

Hart was born to Harry and Melinda (Buller) Pekrul on Nov. 12, 1924, on the family farm in Goltry and passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, in Enid.

Hart grew up in Goltry and graduated from Goltry High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He then attended Okmulgee Tech and graduated from Enid Business College.

On Aug. 18, 1948, he married Barbara Plisek at St. Michaels in Goltry.

After moving to Enid, Hart worked at Security National Bank, first as a teller and eventually promoted to a vice-president. He also served for many years on the Salvation Army Board, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Financial Board and Security National Bank Board.

He enjoyed playing baseball and golf, sharing his love of those sports with his children. Hart farmed with his father and father-in-law and continued his love of agriculture with a cattle and wheat operation of his own. He and Barbara moved to their farm in 1980, and he turned to full-time farming in 1986.

Hart opened the Plain View Winery, and moved the winery to Lahoma in January 2003.

On July 28, 2001, he married LaVera Hudson in Eldon, Mo., and they made their home in Enid.

Hart is survived by his wife, LaVera of the home; children, Ann Hull and husband Mitch of Sulphur, Kay Goddard and husband Bill of Columbia, Mo., Sue Woods and husband Mike of Ochelata, Cam Pekrul and wife Gina of Goltry, Con Pekrul and wife Cindy of Lahoma; Julia Platt and husband David of Eldon, Mo., and Stan Hudson and wife Tonna of Warsaw, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Pekrul and wife Clydene of Lochart, Texas; sister, Bette Boutwell of Del City; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Barbara in 2000; daughter-in-law, Sandy Pekrul; granddaughter, Elaina Hull; and sister, Thelma Unruh.

Memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
