Karoma Cemetery


The funeral for George D. Nelson, 81, of Carrier will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug, 24, 2008, at Carrier Congregational Church, with Pastor Stanley Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Karoma Cemetery at Goltry under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

He was born to Lud and Florence (Dunham) Nelson on April 10, 1927, in Harmon, OK, and died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

George grew up in Goltry and attended Carrier Schools. He then served in the U.S. Navy. On Jan. 28, 1957, he married the love of his life, RhoDonna Florence Selby at the Bible Baptist Church in Enid. They made their home in Carrier, and he was a farmer and custom harvester. George was known for his beautiful yard and gardens. He was "BoBo" to his grandkids, and loved being with them and his children. He was a long-time member of Carrier Congregational Church.

He is survived by three sons, Jon Nelson of Breckenridge, Rick Nelson and wife, Tammie of Enid, and Les Nelson and wife, Sherri of Carrier; one daughter, Darla Jankey and husband, John of Enid; seven grandchildren, Lacie Jankey, Miranda Jankey, Jesse Nelson and wife Maria, Nichole Nelson, Ryan Nelson, Crystal Engler and husband, Jeremy, and Kody Dirickson; five great-grandchildren, Hannah Nelson, Brooklyn Nelson, Elijah Nelson, Daniel Nelson and Paisley Engler; and one sister, Wanda Miller of Washington.

George was preceded in death by his wife RhoDonna on July 26, 2008; daughter-in-law Phyllis Nelson; sister Evelyn Wells; two brothers, Murl and Kenneth Nelson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Carrier Congregational Church or O.M.R.F. - Cancer Division.
