ENID, OK — Memorial service for John “Bill” Nance, 79-year-old Enid resident, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014, in Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Matt Perkins will officiate. Family burial will be at a later date in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry, Okla.

John William “Bill” Nance was born August 6, 1934, in Drummond to Lewis Perry and Stella (Brobst) Nance and found peace April 11, 2014, at his home in Enid. He attended school through ninth grade in Drummond and quit to help on the family farm. He joined the Army National Guard in 1954, serving until 1957. He then joined the Reserves until 1962.

He met Sue B. Whitman, and they were married November 14, 1958, in Enid. They made their home in the Drummond area and had five children.

Bill worked at Vance Air Force Base for 10 years, then went to work for Garfield County for 25 years. He retired in 1994. He enjoyed mowing yards helping Ruey Deirkson in the fields during his retirement years.

He is survived by his wife, Sue B. Nance of the home; son, Johnny and wife Charlotte of Reydon; daughter, Barbara Chase and husband Randy of Durant; daughter, Margie Nance of the home; daughter, Karen and friend Art Livingston, of Enid; son-in-law, Curtis Garner; seven grandchildren, Mitchell Chase and wife Opal, Kerri Watts and husband Tom, Kayla Campbell and fiancée J.D. Wade, Kevin Garner and wife Kimberly, William Nance and fiancée Ashlie Minter, all of Enid, Laura Rivera and husband Hector of Ponca City, and John Nance of Reydon; and five great-grandchildren, Matthew Watts, Jozlin Campbell, Kain Wade, Benjamin Rivera and Brooklynn Nance; and sister Pearl Frazier of Haysville, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Perry Jr. Nance and Donald Nance, sister Delores Wilkerson, daughter Rebecca Jean, and great-grandsons Braxton and Zayden Garner.

The memorial service for Sue Beatrice Nance, 77 year-old Enid resident, is 1 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017, in the Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Matt Perkins will officiate. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Karoma Cemetery.

Sue was born June 8, 1940, in San Diego, Calif., and died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, in Enid. She was adopted by Cecil and Laura Whitman. She graduated from Goltry High School in 1959. Nov. 14, 1958, she married John "Bill" Nance in Enid, where the couple made their home. She worked for Enid State School (NORCE) for over 22 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of United Church of Christ in Goltry. Her family was her joy and she loved spending time with them.

She is survived by her son, Johnny Nance and wife Charlotte; daughters, Barbara Chase and husband Randy, Margie Nance, and Karen and Art Livingston. Grandchildren; Mitchell, Kerri, Laura Marie, Kayla, Kevin, William, and John. Great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jozlin, Benjamin, Brooklynn, Billy, Duane, and Gavin. Two sisters, Sue Carter and Deanna Noland; one sister-in-law, Pearl S. Frazier, Curtis Garner; and numerous other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, one daughter Rebecca, two great-grandsons, Braxton and Zayden Garner, one brother, one sister, and her beloved pug "Buddy".
