Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Leon H. Koons, 89, of Enid, Okla., will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home, with Pastors Jerry Holt and Lavern Crosson officiating. Interment will follow at Karoma Cemetery in Goltry, Okla. The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. today, Nov. 4, at the funeral home.

Leon was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Goltry, Okla., the son of George W. and Carrie Johnson Koons, and passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving under Gen. George Patton in the United States Army Infantry.

He was united in marriage to Catherine Patton on Aug. 3, 1942, in Medicine Lodge, Kan.

Leon was a lifelong farmer and a manager at Superior Truck Stop in Enid.

Leon was a member of Liberty Southern Baptist Church of Enid, VFW and American Legion.

Leon and Catherine played in several music groups. He will be remembered as a strong, gentle man.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine; daughter, Kathy Koons of Dripping Springs, Texas; three sons, Harold Koons and wife Mary Ann of Colony, Okla., Barry Koons of Hulbert, Okla., and Elgin Koons and wife Sheila of Blanchard, Okla.; six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Koons of Lindsborg, Kan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to Liberty Southern Baptist Church, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

A Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Catherine G. Koons, 91, Enid, is 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jerry Holt will officiate. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery, Goltry, Okla. Visitation will be held today, Dec. 2, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Catherine passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, in Enid.

She was born Oct. 4, 1924, in Jet, Okla., the daughter of Samuel Patton and Zenobia Maude (Marley) Patton. She was raised on the Patton family farm, and married Leon Koons of Goltry, Okla. They continued to farm until retirement.

She was a self-employed piano and organ teacher in the Enid area. She also played organ and piano for several churches throughout her career. Catherine attended Phillips University in continuance of her music education. She also enjoyed painting, photography and gardening. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Leon and their friends. Upon retirement, they spent most winters in the south of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maude Patton; husband of 72 years, Leon Koons; two brothers, Ernest and James Patton; and a sister, Alice Petersen.

She is survived by daughter, Kathy Koons of Wimberley, Texas; three sons, Harold Koons and wife Mary Ann, of Colony, Okla.; Barry Koons of Hulbert, Okla.; Elgin Koons and wife Sheila, of Blanchard, Okla.; six grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Southern Baptist Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
