Drowns In Wolf Creek, Henry Koch, Age 33, A Former Resident Of Ochiltree Drowns In Lipscomb Co., TX
Henry Koch, 33, a farm hand employed by Charles Bird of the Liberty community in Lipscomb County was drowned in Wolf Creek about 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 11.
Koch and his father , F. J. Koch were fishing in Wolf Creek. and at the time of the accident the young man was sitting on the edge of the bank. He appeared to pitch forward into the water. His body didn't come to the surface after he fell into a hole containing about 12 feet of water.
It is reported here that the young man had complained of pains in his chest And might have suffered a heart attack. There was water in his lungs when the body was recovered about an hour after the accident. His father, who was with the young man, could not swim, Some men near there were called and a hook was to locate the body.
Carl Freeman, who helped locate the body, brought it to the Steckly Funeral Home here Sunday night.
Henry Koch was born in Orlando, Okla. Feb. 19, 1900, where he grew to manhood. The family moved to Major Co. and then to Ochiltree Co. in 1922. From there they went to Texhoma in 1930.
Mrs. Koch was buried in the Karoma Cemetery, Goltry, Okla.
Besides his father, Mr. Koch is survived by six sisters and three brothers.
