Rites Today

Funeral for Fred J. Koch will be 10 a.m. today in the Darnall Funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery at Goltry.

Koch died suddenly in a local hospital early Tuesday morning at the age of 93 years.

Mr. Koch was a native of Iowa coming to Oklahoma in 1895. He settled near Orlando moving from there to a farm west of Enid in 1909. In 1921 he went to Texas where he resided until his return to Enid in 1935. At the time of his death he was living at 724 South Washington. Mrs. Koch died in 1912.

Surviving are three sons, Emery of Fairmont, Ticie of Guymon and Freddie of California. Six daughters: Mrs Stella Robinson, St. Joseph, Mich. Mrs J. L. Burdick, { Maude Elizabeth }, Enid, Mrs. D. L. Seay, ( Flora Belle}, Lamar, MO, Mrs T.A. { Eva May} Seay, Joplin, MO, Mrs Bert Burdick { Sarah Ethel } and Mrs George Payne, { Anna May} California. 41 grandchildren, over 100 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In 1912 Fred Koch moved his family to Major Co.. He ran a dray. A dray is a low sturdy cart with detachable sides for carrying heavy loads. He hauled freight and things like that with it.

This is where they lived when Millie died. He continued farming in Major Co. OK until 1920 then he moved with his children to Perryton, TX and farmed for 14 years. He returned to OK in 1934 when his health caused him to give up farming.
