The funeral for Sanford Eugene Johnson, 86, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Goltry, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at Goltry First Congregational Church. Pastor Jane Ho will officiate. Burial will be in Karoma Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
He was born June 22, 1923, in Goltry to Fred and Elizabeth Unruh Johnson and died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in Wichita.
He grew up in Goltry and graduated from Goltry High School. He served in the Air Force during World War II. After his military service he worked 13 years at Goltry Elevator before moving to Wichita. He worked for Toledo Scale and later Hammel Scale before retiring at age 65.
Surviving are one daughter, Jeannette Johnson of Wichita; two sons, Hal Johnson and Stan Johnson, both of Haysville, Kan.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
