Funeral for Dorothy Johnson, age 87, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Golden Oaks Chapel. The Rev. Wesley Byrd will officiate. Burial will follow in Karoma Cemetery under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Dorothy Johnson passed from this life and went to her Heavenly Home December 21, 2013. She was born in the Carrier/Goltry, Oklahoma, area July 3, 1926, to Ed and Nora Penner Schmidt.
She and Roy were married September 23, 1947, in Enid. Early in their marriage, they committed their lives to the ministry of the Lord, Jesus Christ, and loved serving His people. She was a devoted pastor’s wife. Her life revolved around serving the Lord and serving others.
She was a dorm mother at Arlington Baptist College and influenced the lives of hundreds of ladies, young and old. She wrote Ladies Bible Study materials and ministered to the ladies in the churches where they served. Dorothy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She loved to play the piano and played faithfully for Golden Oaks Retirement Village Chapel services on Sunday afternoons for the seven years they lived there.
She was a lovely lady, inside and out; the epitome of Christian womanhood. She will be greatly missed, but will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Dorothy is survived by her sister, Violet McGuire, and several other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Johnson, and her four children.
If you wish, you may contribute any funds to the memorial fund set up at Golden Oaks Retirement Village Chapel, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
