Funeral for Marion Dixie Decker will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Karoma Cemetery in Golry, Okla.

Marion was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Goltry, Okla., to Walter and Beulah (Springer) Stucker and passed from this life Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, in Westmoreland, Kan.

She grew up in the farmlands around Goltry and Carrier, attending Carrier School and graduating in 1951. She enjoyed many youthful friendships with her classmates and fondly remembered the activities they participated in together. Many of those friendships remained up until today.

She met Stewart Decker while he was stationed at Vance Air Force Base. They married on July 3, 1954, in Enid, Okla. To this union, three children, Tamara, Shawn and Shanna, were born. She enjoyed living in many different locations during Stewart’s military career before settling back in her home area of Carrier. Some of her favorite places included the El Paso, Texas, region, where they enjoyed the company of her sister, Mona, who also lived nearby. Another favored deployment was Okinawa, Japan.

Shawn and Shanna were born in Jacksonville, Ark., upon her return to the United States. After a final station in Grand Forks, N.D., the family settled near Carrier in 1971. For many years, they lived on the family farm, where she grew up and she was able to help raise and care for animals, which was among her favorite things to do.

She moved to the Manhattan/Wamego, Kan., area in 1993, to be closer to her kids, who lived in the region. There she enjoyed many of the amenities of a small college town. She loved engaging in genealogical activities with her sister, such as investigating their Native American heritage and being members of the Daughters of the American Revolution society. The eldest of three siblings, Marion was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mona Hoskins; and brother, Gary Stucker.

She is survived by three children, Tammie Steele and family of Benkelman, Neb., (husband Joe and children Heather, Echo and Logan); Shawn Decker and family of Rapid City, S.D., (wife Kristi and daughter Cameryn); and Shanna Ubel and family of Wamego, Kan., (husband Chris and children Logan and Georgia).

Condolences and remembrances of Marion may be given to the family at www.enidwecare.com.
