"Wi†h the Colors", says Rolllen was the son of John A and Mamie Stookey. He entered service in 5 Oct 1917. He went overseas in July 1918 and fought at Campagne, Argonne, Reims, Somme Py, Orfeul, Blanc Mont, St. Etienne, and Bernon. He was discharged in June 1919.
He went "over the top" more than any one individual in Alfalfa County.

Wichita, KS. -- The funeral for Bertha Harris Stookey, 92, who died Sunday, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the West Side Christian Church in Wichita. Graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Good Hope Cemetery at Helena under the direction of DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary.
She was born Feb. 7, 1898, in Helena, Oklahoma Territory, to Theodore G. and Deboarh Mae Camp Harris. On July 28, 1921, she married Rollen J. Stookey in Lawton, OK. and was a homemaker. She was a member of West Side Christian Church, American Legion Auxillary-Gano Post and Priscilla Circle, women's ministries.
Surviving are one son, R.J. of Custer, Mont.; three daughters, Lorena Clayton, Wichita, KS., Dortha Dunkin, Alva, OK., and Marilyn Hungerford, Helena, OK.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
Memorials may be made through the mortuary to the First Christian Church of Helena or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Okla. City, OK.
