Helena – Funeral service for James "Jim" Frank Schallner, 77, will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday,) April 14, 2011, at the Helena Nazarene church with Pastor Dean Holt officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.
He was born July 13, 1933 to Frank Schallner and Leapha Susan Coulter Schallner in Cherokee and died April 10, 2011 in Enid.
He graduated from Lambert High School in 1952.
He married Bessie Ruth Powell Nov. 28, 1952.
He worked for Sprague Electric for 24 years before buying the business, which then became known as Schallner Electric, which he operated for 18 years before retiring.
He was on the Helena Volunteer Fire Department for 21 years and ran the chains at Helena football games for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie; his parents; two sisters, Donna Bowles and June Merrill.
He is survived by his three sons, James Frank Schallner, Jr. of Tulsa, Jackie Wayne Schallner of Enid, and Jay Marty Schallner of Nichols Hills; four daughters, Jamie Sue Henderson of Alva, Judy Ann Neilson of Alva, Janette Leigh Folger of Helena and Joyce Lynn Nash of Ringwood; fourteen grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Means of Carmen and Ida "Pete" Porter of Oklahoma City.
Memorials may be given to the church through the funeral home.
