Funeral services for Joann Georgie Prochaska, age 71, of Goltry, OK. will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in New Covenant Fellowship Church of Goltry. Rev. Dale Cummins will officiate. Interment will follow in Good Hope Cemetery of Helena, OK. Arrangements are with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born December 12, 1934, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Ransom and Helen Walton O’Brien and died Saturday evening, March 11, 2006, in the Helena Nursing Home of Helena, Oklahoma.
She attended the Shattuck and Lahoma school systems. On August 17, 1954, she married Jimmie Prochaska in the Phillips University Church in Enid. OK. Joann moved with her husband to Kentucky while he finished his service with the Army. Then, in May of 1955, they moved to the Enid area. In 1959, they purchased a house in Goltry, OK. She worked for various places until the 1960s, when she went to work as a cook for Helena and Goltry school system. Then, in the late 1970s until the late 1980s, she owned and operated her own day care service.
Joann enjoyed camping, fishing, playing bingo, spending time with her family and she loved cooking.
Joann is survived by her husband, Jimmie Prochaska of the home; children, Rosemary Hinkle of Enid, OK., Jamie Coulter and her husband Cole of Goltry, OK., and Charlie Prochaska and his wife Christi of Enid, OK.; two brothers, Gary O’Brien of Bethany, OK. and Charles O’Brien of Shattuck, OK.; two sisters, Pat Prochaska of Corpus Christi, TX and Nancy Gortney of Enid, OK.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ransom and Helen O’Brien, and a sister, Susan Coonfield.
Memorials can be made through the funeral home to New Covenant Fellowship Church or American Cancer Society.
